Introduction to Library Collections

The following books are in the collections of rare books.

Foreign books, Japanese old books

  • "Voyages imaginaires, songes, visions et romans cabalistiques, 36v. 1787-1789" edited by C.A.T.Garnier
  • Supplement of the above book, "Histoire des naufrages, ou recueil, 3v. 1794-1795"
  • The Classical French collection of 414 books such as "Encyclopedie ou Dictionnaire raisonne des sciences, des arts et des metiers" (first edition) by Diderot and D'Alembert.
  • The first edition of "An inquiry into the nature and causes of the wealth of nations" by Adam Smith
  • The first edition of "Das Kapital: Kritik der politischen Okonomie" by Karl Marx
  • Old manuscript of "Genji Kokagami"

To use rare books, you must apply in advance.

"Kishu Han" Collection

This collection contains about 9,000 old Japanese books and 16,000 Chinese classics of the school of "Kishu Han" including rare books.
